Problem-solving and not giving up
Stories about problem-solving for children: testing ideas, learning from mistakes, practising, staying focused and not giving up.
19 stories
Things go wrong all the time in a child's day. A tower will not stand, a puzzle piece will not fit, a new skill is harder than it looked, and the first try ends in a mess.
How a child meets those moments, by giving up or by trying another way, is something they learn bit by bit, and so is staying with a task long enough to see it through.
Stories make the messy middle visible. Your child can watch a character test an idea, see it fail, look more closely, listen carefully and try again, and hear that mistakes are part of how anything gets done. Practice and patience stop sounding like a lecture when a story shows where they lead.
On this shelf you will find stories about working out everyday problems, learning from mistakes, practising until something works, reaching a goal through steady effort, and paying attention and staying focused when a task is tricky.
