Terms of Service

Version 3.0

Applies from: 7 October 2026

These terms are the contract between you and the business that runs Booklly. Please read them before you create an account. Section 2 lists the points people most often miss.

1. Who we are

Booklly is run by:

In these terms "Booklly", "we" and "us" mean this business. "You" means the person who holds the account.

The email address above is also our single point of contact for users and for authorities under the EU Digital Services Act. You can write to us in Slovenian or English.

2. The points that matter most

• Booklly is for adults. You must be 18 or older to hold an account. Children do not have accounts and do not use Booklly on their own.

• Everything Booklly produces is made by artificial intelligence: the story text, the illustrations and the narration. The voices are synthetic.

• Every story you confirm is published in the public Booklly Library. You cannot make a story private. Section 7 explains this.

• Booklly holds the rights in the stories its system generates. We show them to other people and use them in our advertising. You may use the stories you create for personal, non-commercial purposes. Section 7 has the details and the limits.

• Do not type real names, addresses, schools or other personal details into a story idea. They can end up in a public story.

• Paid plans renew every month until you cancel. A free trial turns into a paid subscription when it ends.

• If you are a consumer you have 14 days to withdraw from a paid subscription. Section 6 explains how.

3. Who can use Booklly

3.1 Adults only

You must be at least 18 years old, and old enough to enter a contract where you live. Booklly is a tool for parents, guardians and other adults who make stories for children. It is not directed at children, and a child must not be given their own account.

3.2 Your account

You need an account to read a full story or to create one. You agree to:

• give a real email address and keep it up to date,

• keep your password to yourself and turn on two-factor authentication if you can,

• tell us at once if someone else has used your account,

• hold one account only. You may not open extra accounts to get another free trial, to get more free stories or to get around a suspension.

You are responsible for activity in your account if it happened because you did not keep your sign-in details safe.

3.3 Kid Profiles

You can add a Kid Profile with a child's first name, gender, date of birth, interests and an optional photo. It lets Booklly fit stories to the child's age and interests. When you add one you confirm that:

• you are the child's parent or legal guardian, or you have that person's permission,

• nobody else who has parental responsibility for the child objects,

• the details are correct.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with Kid Profile details and which of them are sent to AI providers.

3.4 Waiting list

At times we may limit new sign-ups and ask you to join a waiting list or use an invitation code.

4. The service

4.1 What Booklly does

Booklly lets you:

• read and listen to stories in the Booklly Library,

• create stories from an idea you type, a category and, if you choose, a Kid Profile,

• create series with seasons and episodes, on the plan that includes the Series Creator,

• share reading access with one other adult through a Family.

Booklly is available on the website booklly.com and in the Booklly app for iPhone and iPad. Some features are not available in the app.

4.2 Made by AI

Booklly uses AI models from other companies to write, illustrate and narrate stories. All story text, illustrations and narration on Booklly are AI-generated, and all narration voices are synthetic. You cannot upload or clone a voice.

AI output is unpredictable. A story can contain mistakes, odd turns or details you did not ask for. Two people who type similar ideas can get similar stories. Stories are fiction and are meant for entertainment. They are not medical, psychological, educational or other professional advice.

4.3 Your review before a story is produced

When you create a single story, Booklly first writes a draft at no cost. You read the draft and then choose to confirm it, to have it rewritten once for free, or to archive it. Confirming spends your Story Credits, starts the illustrations and narration, and publishes the finished story in the Booklly Library.

Series episodes have no draft step. An episode is produced and published as soon as you start it.

We check every story and episode automatically for safety and age fit before it is published, but no filter is perfect. Read or listen to a story yourself before you share it with a child.

4.4 Limits

We limit how many stories, series, seasons and episodes one account can request in an hour, and how many stories in a day. This keeps the service stable and stops abuse. Booklly tells you when you reach a limit.

4.5 Languages

Booklly is offered in English and Slovenian. You can conclude this contract in either language.

4.6 How the contract is made

You create an account and accept these terms. For a paid plan you choose the plan, check the summary on the checkout page and confirm the order. Until you confirm, you can correct what you entered or go back.

There is no minimum term. The service starts as soon as your order is confirmed.

Each version of these terms has a number at the top. You can save or print this page. We keep earlier versions and send you the one that applied when you signed up if you ask.

To use Booklly you need an internet connection and a current version of Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge, or an iPhone or iPad with iOS 26 or later. Stories cannot be downloaded. We have not signed up to a code of conduct.

5. Plans, credits and payment

5.1 Plans

We show the current price, the number of Story Credits and the billing period for each paid plan before you order. That information is part of this contract. The price we show is the total price for each billing period. No VAT is added to it (see section 1). Paid plans are billed monthly in euros or US dollars, depending on where you are.

5.2 Story Credits

• You receive your plan's Story Credits when a subscription period starts and is paid, and at the start of a free trial.

• Creating costs credits. The cost is shown before you confirm. When this version was published, a story cost 10, 20 or 30 credits depending on its length, starting a series cost 10 credits, and an episode cost the same as a story of its length.

• Credits do not carry over. At each renewal your balance is replaced by the new period's allowance.

• Credits are personal. They cannot be shared with your Family, transferred, sold or exchanged for money.

• You can spend credits only while your subscription is active or in a free trial. If a payment is overdue, your credits are on hold until it is paid.

• When your subscription ends, any remaining credits expire.

• If you move to a higher plan during a period, you receive the difference between the two allowances once for that period. If you move to a lower plan, any balance above the lower plan's allowance is removed.

5.3 When production fails

If we take credits for a story or an episode and then fail to produce it, we return the credits or produce it again. If that has not happened, write to hello@booklly.com and we will put it right.

5.4 Free trial

If you have never had a Booklly subscription, a paid plan starts with a 30-day free trial. A payment card is required to start it. One trial is available per person.

When the trial ends, the subscription becomes paid and we charge the price shown when you ordered. If you cancel before the trial ends, you are not charged.

5.5 Payment and renewal

Stripe processes payments for us. When you subscribe you authorise Stripe to charge your payment method for each period. We never see or store your full card number.

Your subscription renews automatically every month until you cancel. Each renewal is charged at the price that applies to you at that time.

5.6 Price changes

We may raise the price of a plan only for these reasons: higher costs of the AI, hosting and payment services we use, a change in taxes, inflation, or a real extension of what the plan includes.

We email you at least 30 days before. The email states the new price, the reason and the date. The new price applies to you only if you accept it. If you do not accept by that date, your subscription ends at the end of the period you have paid for and you move to the Free plan. We never change the price of a period you have already paid for.

5.7 Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from your account settings on the website, which open Stripe's billing portal, or by writing to hello@booklly.com. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep your plan until the end of the period you have paid for, or until the end of the trial.

After a subscription ends you are on the Free plan. Stories you created stay in your library and you can still read and listen to them.

5.8 Failed payments

If a payment fails, your Library access and your credits are on hold until the payment succeeds. Stripe will try the charge again and email you. If the payment keeps failing, the subscription may end.

5.9 Promotion codes

A promotion code can be used only under the conditions that come with it.

5.10 The iPhone and iPad app

The app does not sell anything. It shows the plan your account already has. Apple is not involved in billing for Booklly.

6. Your right to withdraw and refunds

6.1 Right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer, you have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period expires 14 days after the day the contract is concluded. If your subscription starts with a free trial, that is the day the trial starts.

To exercise the right, you must inform us of your decision by an unequivocal statement, for example a letter sent by post or an email. Our address, phone number and email address are in section 1. You may use the withdrawal form at the end of these terms, but it is not obligatory. To meet the deadline, it is enough to send your message before the withdrawal period has expired.

We confirm by email that we have received your withdrawal.

6.2 Effects of withdrawal

If you withdraw, we reimburse all payments received from you without undue delay, and in any event within 14 days from the day we are informed of your decision. We use the same means of payment that you used, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise. You will not incur any fees because of the reimbursement.

If you expressly asked us to begin the service during the withdrawal period, you pay us an amount in proportion to what was provided until you told us of your withdrawal. We calculate it by days: the price of the billing period, divided by the days in that period, multiplied by the days from the start of the paid period to the day of your message. If you did not make that request, or if you withdraw during a free trial, you pay nothing.

Section 7.8 says what happens to the stories you created.

6.3 Other refunds

Apart from sections 5.3, 6, 12, 15 and 16.2, we do not refund a billing period that has started, and we do not pay out unused Story Credits. This does not limit any right the law gives you.

7. Stories, the Library and who holds the rights

7.1 Two kinds of content

Inputs are what you give Booklly: the story idea you type, character descriptions, the choices you make, and the Kid Profile details you choose to use.

Stories are what Booklly's system produces: titles, text, summaries, characters, illustrations, narration, and series, seasons and episodes.

7.2 Stories are public

Every story you confirm and every episode you start is added to the public Booklly Library when it is ready. This is how Booklly works on every plan. You cannot switch a story to private in the product.

Being public means:

• anyone on the internet can see the story's title, cover, summary, characters and opening,

• registered users and subscribers can read and listen to the full story, as their plan allows,

• search engines and AI crawlers can index the public pages,

• the story can be shared by its link.

We do not display your name or username on a story. In the app, people can hide all stories from one creator, so they may be able to tell that two stories come from the same creator.

If you do not want a draft to become public, archive it. Do not confirm it.

7.3 Keep personal details out of what you type

Because stories are public, do not put the following into a story idea, a character or an interest: a child's or anyone's full name, an address, a school or kindergarten, a phone number, health details, or anything else that identifies a real person. Booklly does not put a Kid Profile's name into a story. A name appears only if you type it yourself, into an idea or a character.

If a published story contains personal details, tell us and we will remove it. See section 7.7.

7.4 Rights in Stories

Stories are generated by Booklly's system from your Inputs. You do not write them. Content generated by AI may not be protected by copyright at all.

Between you and Booklly, the following applies:

1. Booklly holds every right in a Story that the law gives to the operator of the system that generated it, and the rights in the Library as a collection.

2. If the law gives you copyright or a related right in a Story, you give Booklly a licence to it. The licence covers the whole world and lasts for the full term of protection. It covers reproducing the Story, storing it electronically, making it available online and in apps, communicating and performing it in public, broadcasting it, distributing copies, translating, adapting, shortening, editing, re-narrating and animating it, combining it with other material, and using it in any of those ways to advertise and promote Booklly. Booklly may pass these rights to its service providers and to a business that takes over Booklly.

3. The licence in point 2 is exclusive. You do not give the same rights to anyone else, and you use the Story yourself only as section 7.6 allows. If this point 3 is not valid, the licence continues as a non-exclusive licence and the other points still apply.

4. You give this licence free of charge, as part of using the service. Rights to fair remuneration that the law does not let you waive are not affected.

5. Moral rights stay with the person the law gives them to. You agree that Stories are published without your name and that we may edit them as described above. We will not change a Story in a way that harms your honour or reputation.

6. Sections 7.7 and 7.8 take priority over this section.

7.5 How we use Stories

We may:

• show Stories in the Library, in lists and on the home page,

• use Stories, in full or in part, in advertising and promotion, for example in videos on social media, on our website and in the app stores,

• edit, re-narrate, animate, illustrate again and translate Stories,

• let search engines and AI crawlers index public pages,

• study Stories and Inputs to check quality and improve our prompts and our choice of models.

We do not train AI models on your Inputs or on Stories ourselves. Our Privacy Policy explains how the AI providers we use treat what we send them.

7.6 What you may do with the Stories you create

You may use the Stories you created for personal and non-commercial purposes. You may read them, listen to them, read them aloud, share their links, and show them to family, friends and the children in your care.

You may not sell them, publish them commercially, license them to someone else, pass them off as content of another service, or use them to train AI models.

7.7 Removing a Story

A Story should not contain personal data. If we know that one does, we do not use it in advertising.

If a Story you created contains personal details about you, your child or another real person, write to hello@booklly.com with the link. You, your child or the person concerned can ask. We remove the Story from the Library and from our advertising without undue delay, and within 7 days at the latest. We cannot recall copies that search engines, AI crawlers or other people made while the Story was public.

For any other reason, you can also ask us to remove a Story you created. We look at your request and decide.

Removing a Story does not return the Story Credits spent on it.

7.8 If you withdraw, or end the contract because of a fault or a change

This section applies if you withdraw under section 6, end the contract under section 12.1 because the service was not as agreed, or end it under section 12.3.

• We stop using the Stories you created and your Inputs. We take the Stories out of the Library and out of our advertising within 14 days. You do not have to ask.

• We may continue only where the law allows it, for example where content was combined with other data and cannot be separated without disproportionate effort.

• On request we give you a copy of the Stories you created, free of charge, within a reasonable time, in a commonly used, machine-readable format.

• We may close your access to the service.

Nothing in section 7 limits your rights under data protection law, which our Privacy Policy describes.

7.9 Your Inputs

You keep any rights you have in your Inputs. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to use them to run the service and to generate, check and improve Stories, for as long as we keep the Input. We do not display the text of your idea anywhere in Booklly.

You confirm that your Inputs are yours to use, that they do not infringe anyone's rights, and that they do not contain personal details about another person without the right to share them.

7.10 After your account is deleted

Deleting your account deletes your drafts and anything of yours that was never published. Stories of yours that are in the public Library stay there. They are no longer connected to your username or your sign-in details, and you can no longer manage them. If you want a published Story removed, ask us before you delete your account. If you ask afterwards, send us the link and we will remove a Story that contains personal data.

7.11 Booklly's own material

The Booklly name, logo, website, app, software, design and the Library as a collection belong to us. These terms do not give you any right in them beyond using the service.

8. Family

A Family has two adults: the person who creates it and one person they invite. Both must have their own account and accept these terms.

• Either member can invite the other, remove the other, rename the Family or delete it. There is no owner.

• The invitation email shows your email address to the person you invite.

• If one member has an active subscription or trial, both members have full access to the Library.

• Each member can see the other's stories, series, favourites and Kid Profiles, and each other's username and email address.

• Only the person who created a story or series can change it. Either member can edit or remove a Kid Profile.

• Story Credits are never shared.

• When a member leaves or is removed, sharing stops. Each person keeps what they created.

By creating or joining a Family you agree to this sharing.

9. Group accounts

We offer shared accounts to organisations such as schools. We set these up ourselves under a separate agreement with the organisation. If you use Booklly as a member of a group account, these terms apply to you as well. The organisation's administrators can see your username, your email address and the credits you use from the shared pool.

10. Rules

10.1 Content you must not ask for

Do not use Booklly to create or try to create:

• anything illegal,

• sexual content, and any sexualised depiction of a child,

• graphic violence, self-harm, or content that encourages dangerous behaviour,

• hate or harassment aimed at a person or a group,

• content about a real person without their permission, including public figures,

• content that copies protected characters, brands or other people's work,

• content that reveals personal details of a real person.

10.2 Things you must not do

• Get around limits, paywalls or security measures.

• Use bots, scrapers or other automated tools on the service.

• Copy, resell or redistribute the service or the Library.

• Reverse engineer the website or the app, except where the law allows it.

• Share your login with anyone.

• Send harmful code or overload our systems.

• Pretend to be someone else.

• Report content in bad faith.

10.3 No tolerance

Booklly has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. We remove such content and suspend the accounts responsible.

11. Moderation, reports and takedowns

11.1 How we moderate

Before a story or an episode is published, an AI editor checks it for safety and age fit and replaces protected characters and brands with original ones. The AI providers we use apply their own content filters. These checks are automated. Nobody at Booklly reads a story before it is published.

After publication we act on reports and on our own findings. A person at Booklly reviews reports and makes the decision.

11.2 How to report

If you have an account, use the Report option on a story on the website or in the app.

Without an account, write to hello@booklly.com. Tell us the link, why you think the content is illegal or breaks these terms, and your name and email address. Please confirm that you believe your report is accurate and complete. You do not have to give your name or email address if you report child sexual abuse material.

We confirm receipt without undue delay. We review reports of objectionable content within 24 hours. We then tell you our decision and how you can challenge it. If automated tools were used to handle your report, we tell you.

In the app you can also hide all stories from a creator. Nobody is told that you did.

11.3 What we may do

If a story breaks these terms or the law, we may remove it from the Library. A removed story stays in the library of its creator and their Family, unless the content is illegal.

When a story receives three open reports from three different accounts, it is hidden automatically until a person at Booklly has reviewed it.

If an account breaks these terms, we may limit what it can create, suspend it or close it. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe other people's rights. If we learn of content that points to a serious crime threatening someone's life or safety, we inform the authorities.

11.4 What we tell you, and how to object

If we remove or hide your story, limit what you can create, or suspend or close your account, we email you no later than the moment the measure starts. The email says what we did, where it applies and for how long. It says which facts we relied on, and whether we acted on a report or on our own check. It says whether automated tools found the content or made the decision. It names the law or the section of these terms that was broken, and why. It says how you can object. When three reports hide a story automatically, the email says so.

You can object by replying within six months. A person, not only software, looks at your objection and answers without undue delay. If you are right, we undo the measure. You can also go to court.

12. Our responsibility for the service

12.1 The legal guarantee

If you are a consumer, the law requires us to supply the service as agreed for as long as your contract runs. If Booklly does not work as it should, tell us and we will fix it within a reasonable time. If we cannot, you may ask for a price reduction or end the contract. We then refund, within 14 days, the part of the price for the time the service was not as agreed and any part you paid in advance for the time after the contract ends. Nothing in these terms limits these rights.

12.2 What we do not promise

We run Booklly with reasonable care. Because stories are generated by AI, we do not promise that a story will match what you imagined, that it will be free of mistakes, that it will be unique, or that it will suit every child.

Short interruptions for maintenance are normal. Longer ones give you rights under section 12.1.

12.3 Changes to the service

We may change Booklly for these reasons: to follow the law, to keep the service secure, to adapt to new or withdrawn AI models and technical providers, to prevent abuse, and to improve or add features. Such changes cost you nothing extra.

If a change makes the service noticeably worse for you, we tell you by email at least 30 days in advance. You may then end your contract at no cost within 30 days of the notice or of the change, whichever is later. We refund the part of the price that covers the time after you ended it, and section 7.8 applies.

13. Liability

We are liable for damage we cause intentionally or through negligence, as the law provides.

For slight negligence, meaning an ordinary mistake that a careful business can still make, we are liable for the damage we should have expected as a possible result of the breach when the contract was made. This limit does not apply to death or personal injury, or where the law does not allow a limit.

Booklly is for private use, so we do not expect business losses such as lost profit.

We are not liable where we could not perform because of events that arose after the contract was made and that we could not prevent, remove or avoid.

Your rights under section 12 are not affected.

14. Your responsibility

You are responsible to us for damage you cause by breaking these terms or the law through your own fault. This includes a justified claim that someone else makes against us because of it.

15. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms for these reasons: a change in the law or a decision by a court or authority, a change to the service under section 12.3, new features or plans, security, and to fix unclear wording.

We email you at least 30 days before a change applies to you. The email lists what changes, when, and your right to end the contract. If you do not agree, you may end your contract before that date at no cost, and we refund the part of the price that covers the time after you ended it. Changes that the law requires, or that only add to your rights, may apply sooner.

We do not use this section to change the price or the core of what your plan includes. A change to section 7 applies only to Stories created after it takes effect.

16. Ending the contract

16.1 By you

You can stop using Booklly at any time. You can delete your account in the app, or by writing to hello@booklly.com. In the app, a subscription that will renew has to be cancelled first. If you write to us, we cancel it for you.

16.2 By us

We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the law. We tell you why, as section 11.4 describes. We refund the part of the price that covers the time after closure, less any damage we can claim from you.

We may also end the contract for another good reason, for example if we stop offering Booklly, by giving you at least 30 days' notice by email. In that case we refund the part of the price that covers the time after the contract ends.

16.3 What stays in force

Sections 7, 13, 14, 17, 18 and 19 continue to apply after the contract ends.

17. Law, courts and complaints

17.1 Law

Slovenian law governs these terms. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live.

17.2 Courts

If you are a consumer, you can bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live or in Slovenia, and we can bring a claim against you only where you live. For everyone else, the court in Novo mesto, Slovenia has jurisdiction.

17.3 Complaints

Write to hello@booklly.com. We answer complaints within 8 days. If we reject your complaint, we tell you why in writing and repeat the statement below.

We have not joined any out-of-court dispute resolution body, and the law requires us to say so. We do not recognise any provider of out-of-court consumer dispute resolution as competent to resolve a consumer dispute that you might bring under the Slovenian Out-of-Court Resolution of Consumer Disputes Act.

The Market Inspectorate of the Republic of Slovenia supervises compliance with consumer law in Slovenia.

18. If you use the app from the Apple App Store

This section applies to the Booklly app for iPhone and iPad. If it conflicts with another section, this section applies.

1. You and we acknowledge that these terms are concluded between you and Booklly only, and not with Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content.

2. We give you a non-transferable licence to use the app on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. The app may also be accessed and used by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing.

3. We are solely responsible for providing maintenance and support for the app. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services for the app.

4. We are solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app to you, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are our sole responsibility.

5. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the app or your possession and use of the app. This includes product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation.

6. If a third party claims that the app, or your possession and use of the app, infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.

7. You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country that is subject to a United States Government embargo or that has been designated by the United States Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

8. You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when you use the app, such as your mobile data agreement.

9. You and we acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple's subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Upon your acceptance of these terms, Apple will have the right, and will be deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

10. Questions, complaints and claims about the app go to the address, email and phone number in section 1.

19. General

• Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. It is not part of the contract.

• If a part of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest still applies.

• If we do not enforce a right at once, we can still enforce it later.

• You may not transfer this contract to someone else. We may transfer it to a business that takes over Booklly, provided your rights are not reduced. We tell you in advance. If you do not agree, you may end the contract at no cost and we refund any time you paid for in advance.

• These terms exist in Slovenian and English. The version in the language you used when you accepted them applies to you. The other version is a translation. If the two differ and you are a consumer, the meaning that is better for you applies.
