Lola jumped up and down on her soft silver bed. Boing, boing, boing! She stretched her arms up high. Every morning, Lola brushed her teeth with starry toothpaste and flew her little red spaceship. Whoosh! Today was an exploring day, and Lola felt very happy. Her tummy felt warm and fluttery.
She buckled into her bouncy captain's seat. Beside her sat Beep, her little round robot. He looked like a shiny tin can with big blue eyes. Lola pressed the big green button. Zoom! The spaceship blasted into the sparkly purple sky. They flew past three bumpy moons. They flew past a glowing river of space-milk. Finally, they landed with a soft splat in a field of bright green grass.
Lola opened the spaceship door and stepped outside. She looked up, up, up. "Wow," Lola whispered.
This was the Planet of Giant Flowers. But these flowers did not look like regular flowers. They were taller than her spaceship! There was just one big problem. All the giant flowers were closed. They were rolled up into tight, green balls.
Lola wanted to see their pretty colors. She wanted to smell the sweet space-petals. Beep rolled over to the biggest flower. He tapped it with his metal claw. Clink, clink. The flower did not move. It stayed closed tight.
