In a small bedroom, there was a big window and a tiny nest.
A fluffy gray bird named Lila lived on the windowsill. She was small and round, like a soft ball of cotton. Lila liked to watch the girl who slept in the room hugging her favorite doll.
One morning, Lila woke up shivering. She felt cold and worried. Her wings trembled, and her tummy felt wiggly. Winter snow tapped on the glass outside.
“I don’t like this cold,” she whispered. “I need warm sun.”
Outside, the world was white and frosty. Inside, the bedroom was bright. A plant on the desk reached toward the light.
