Nature, science and the world around us
Stories for curious children about animals, nature, space, science, how things work, history and the world, and caring for the planet.
10 stories
Children are born explorers. They want to know why the leaves change colour, where the bees go, how an aeroplane stays up, what the moon is made of and how people lived before there were cars.
Every question is a doorway into the wider world, from the creatures under a stone to the planets overhead, and from ancient castles to faraway countries and the way people live there.
Stories feed that curiosity in a way a list of facts cannot. A story can take your child into a beehive, a workshop, a rocket or the distant past, and let them see how things work step by step through the eyes of a character who wonders, asks and checks. Many also show how to look after the natural world and the places we share.
On this shelf you will find stories about animals, plants and the outdoors, weather and seasons, space, science and how machines work, history and life long ago, other places and cultures, and caring for the planet and your neighbourhood.
