Swish-swoosh, went the gentle blue waves. Pop-pop, went the tiny silver bubbles tickling the bright pink coral. Deep in a cozy burrow beneath the sparkling sea lived a young octopus named Violet. Violet had eight wonderful, wiggly arms, and she used them all to spread joy. She was the best mail carrier at the Coral Reef Post Office. Every morning, Violet woke up with a happy heart. Her tummy felt bright as she packed her mailbag. She loved delivering messages to all her underwater friends.
Today was a very special day. As Violet sorted the morning mail, she found a strange and beautiful envelope. It glowed with a soft golden light. But there was a mystery! Violet looked closely. The letter had no name on it. Instead of an address, it had a big, cheerful smile.
"Who is this glowing letter for?" she wondered out loud. Violet felt determined. She knew she had to find the owner. Someone in the vast ocean must need this bright, happy smile.
Violet packed the glowing letter safely in her bag and swam out of her cozy burrow. Zoom! She jetted through the clear water.
Her first stop was the underwater meadows, where the sea ponies lived. This was like a busy little farm beneath the waves. Munch-munch, went the sea ponies as they grazed on the long, green kelp. Violet loved visiting the sea ponies. But today, one little sea pony named Barnaby was sitting all alone. His head hung down low. He looked very sad.
Violet swam over gently. "Hello, Barnaby," she said in her softest, sweetest voice. "Why do you look so blue?"
"I lost my favorite shiny pebble," Barnaby sighed. "I used to balance it on my nose."
