"Please, oh PLEASE can I play in the big soccer game?" Vernon begged. "I promise I'll be really, really good!"

Did you say no? Good! Because Vernon's webbed feet are much too wide for soccer boots!

But Vernon didn't give up. He put on a red jersey (which was on backwards) and found a soccer ball.

"Look! I'm all ready now!" he said, giving the ball a kick.
