Luz bounced on her tiptoes inside the small space pod. She tugged on her mittens, clicked her helmet, and pressed the landing button. **Whoosh!** The pod floated down like a sleepy feather.

Outside the window waited a planet covered in soft fuzz. It looked like a huge gray blanket under a purple sky. Luz stepped out carefully. The ground went **boing** under her boots.

Then she heard it.

“Prrrrrr,” the whole planet hummed, warm and low, like a giant cat.

Luz felt brave, but her tummy felt wiggly. She knelt and patted the fuzzy ground with one mitten.

“Hello,” she whispered. “I’m Luz. I’m gentle.”
