Once, in a meadow where wildflowers danced in the breeze, there lived a small brown mouse named Miguel. Miguel lived in a cozy burrow beneath an old oak tree.
Every night before bed, he would peek outside and watch Starshine the unicorn gallop across the moonlit meadow. Her silver horn glowed like a tiny moon, leaving sparkles wherever she went.
But tonight, something was very wrong.
A big storm had blown through the meadow. Thunder crashed and lightning flashed. Miguel hid under his acorn-cap blanket, his tummy feeling wiggly with fear. When the storm finally stopped, Miguel heard crying.
He scurried outside and found Starshine lying in the wet grass. Her beautiful silver horn was gone! It had broken off in the wild wind and tumbled far away.
"My horn," Starshine whispered sadly. "Without it, I cannot help the sun rise. And if the sun doesn't rise by morning, the meadow will stay dark forever."
Miguel felt scared. His tummy did wiggly flips. But then he felt something else too—he felt brave.
"I will find your horn," Miguel said, standing up tall on his tiny legs.
Starshine looked at the little mouse with big, teary eyes. "You? But you are so small, and the night is so big."
"Small things can do big things," Miguel said.
