Princess Pippa had a tall bed with soft pillows and warm quilts. She had shiny cups and sweet jam.
She liked to say, "More! Mine!" She said it a lot.
One day, a big storm came. The wind blew hard. *Whoosh!* The castle lights went out. Pippa went outside to find a safe place, but the wind pushed her far from home.
She walked into the deep forest. The trees were tall like towers. Leaves rustled. Pippa felt a little scared.
She saw a round stone ahead. It looked like a door.
Pippa knocked. *Tap, tap, tap.*
A small crack opened. Two bright eyes peeked out. A voice asked, "Who?"
Pippa said, "Princess!"
The door rolled aside. Three forest trolls appeared. They were not scary. They were chubby and kind.
One had mossy hair. One wore a leaf hat. One had a twig belt.
"Come in," said the mossy one. "I am Tumb."
"I am Rilla," said the one with the leaf hat.
"I am Nib," said the one with the twig belt.
The cave was warm. A fire glowed orange. A pot bubbled on the fire. It smelled like yummy soup.
Pippa lifted her chin. "I need a bed," she said. "And jam. And a stand for my crown."
The trolls blinked. Then they smiled.
Tumb pointed to a pile of soft hay. "Hay bed," he said. "Very cozy."
Pippa wrinkled her nose.
